GEOSCIENTISTS: RELEVANT PERFORMANCE FOR THE FUTURE CHALLENGES

On December 14th, 2022, Prof. Iver Martens (UiT), leader of the GeoPraksis project, was invited to the University of Milano-Bicocca to give a talk titled "Geoscientists: Relevant Skills for Future Challenges".  The seminar aimed to foster discussion between students, universities, and industries engaged in the geosciences (see the full talk on the BridgET YouTube channel). The event provided a valuable opportunity to raise students' awareness of the relevance of their studies to private sector careers, with a particular focus on the ongoing green transition shaping the job market.

Many industry representatives were invited to attend, giving participants the chance to expand their professional networks beyond academia. The discussion also explored ways to strengthen collaboration between students, universities, and industries, emphasizing the importance of closer interaction and cooperation.

INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP ON OCEAN SCIENCES

On April 17th, 2024, Prof. Alessandra Savini and Dr. Luca Fallati, along with PhD students from UNIMIB, conducted an interactive workshop on Ocean Sciences for teenage students at the DOCK, in collaboration with Kinderbüro Universität Wien GmbH. This workshop was organized as a STEM outreach and community engagement activity, serving as a side event to the EGU2024 annual conference in Vienna. It was also part of the SHORE Horizon Europe project’s Education, Learning, and Mobilisation Activity. We sincerely thank Christian Gary and Phil Smith for making this experience possible.

The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for young students to explore key ocean-related topics and challenges while also introducing BridgET approaches to addressing geohazards and climate change.
